Hi, everyone!! For my very first blog post I decided to tell everyone a little bit about me, my family and the direction of this blog. My name is Elizabeth and I am a desert transplant. My husband and I moved our family to Southern Arizona 3 years ago and it has been an amazing adventure!! Every where I lived before this move was lush and green with plenty of trees! Imagine my shock when I arrived here. (Here is a tip: Research cannot prepare you for the scorching heat of this place!) I soon discovered that the desert is a harsh but beautiful and thriving environment. More about that later.
We have three children. In this blog they will be referred to as Fairy Girl (9), Bean (turning 6), and Cy-Guy (4).
We really do live in a little house in the desert!! We are working towards a goal to purchase our own home and in the meantime we rent a small 3 bedroom home. The upside is that we have an acre lot!! We keep chickens and have learned so much through that experience. I am still trying to convince my husband that keeping goats is a good idea, too. We recently started a garden that will appear in a later post. The name of the game right now is frugality!
All three of our children are home-schooled which is an adventure all its own! We spend so much time learning and discovering new things. I will be sharing lessons, field trips and projects throughout the blog.
I am basically obsessed with pinterest. What SAHM isn't? I enjoy trying new projects and recipes and can't wait to share them with you! I have a huge list of future posts so just get ready!! It is going to be awesome.
The main goal of this blog is to keep a record of our lives for my children and the family members that live far away. I am so thankful to live in a time when keeping in touch with family and friends is so incredibly simple!! I often think of the early Americans that traveled west. Many of them would never see their families again. Letters are great and everything but nothing beats a quick text or photo shared instantly from thousands of miles away.
My hope is that whoever visits this blog will learn something or have something to share with me! Thanks for joining us on this grand adventure!! In closing, please enjoy this beautiful Arizona sky.
Great start! Look forward to reading more!
